Reach-In Refrigeration

Reach-in refrigeration refers to commercial refrigerators and freezers with upright cabinets and doors that allow staff to access cold or frozen products quickly. They are commonly used in restaurants, schools, healthcare kitchens, bakeries, bars, and cafeterias.

The right size depends on your storage volume, kitchen layout, and daily workflow. One-section units work well for smaller spaces or station-specific storage, while two- and three-section models offer more capacity for higher-volume kitchens.

Top-mount compressors are often used in hot kitchens because they pull air from higher up, away from floor dust and debris. Bottom-mount compressors can be easier to service and may make lower shelves more accessible. The best choice depends on your kitchen environment, layout, and maintenance preferences.

Reach-in freezers can be used for frozen storage, but they are often best for frequently used frozen items or station-level access. For larger-volume or long-term frozen storage, a walk-in freezer may be a better fit.

A glass door reach-in refrigerator is typically designed for back-of-house or staff-access storage, giving employees a quick view of ingredients, beverages, or prepared items without opening the door. A merchandiser refrigerator is designed for customer-facing display, with features like brighter lighting, product visibility, and a more retail-focused appearance.
