Single Strip Heaters

Keep finished food pans and plated meals at ideal temperatures until service with heat lamps and strip heaters.

Heat lamps are used for keeping foods warm for short periods of time. Long-term keeping is not advised because lamps of this type radiate dry heat, which can actually continue to cook the food on the surface of the area they are pointed at. They are best suited for items with a small surface area, like plated meals, however are also great above food pans on buffet lines. Food pans or items that have a high density may be better served using holding cabinets or warming drawers.

Most of the time hot meals aren't served right off the grill. There is usually a short time period in between the dish being plated and the server taking the plate for service. During this in between time, heat lamps and strip warmers can help your kitchen keep those hot meals at the perfect temperature. Keeping your food hot will prevent customers from receiving cold meals.

Many companies use heat lamps or strip warmers at server’s stations to keep finished dishes warm. They can also be used on buffet lines to light up food pans, while simultaneously warming them. Bar and lamp heaters come in varying lengths, sizes, wattages, and configurations to help any kitchen get the right equipment for success.

Heating Lamps

Heat lamps provide your kitchen with the ideal lighting and warming needed to keep hot foods hot and visible for servers to find. They can be placed above buffet lines to also increase visibility for guests. Pairing heat lamps with warming shelves will help your makeshift serving lines provide optimal temperature control and accessibility.

Heat lamps are available in varying styles, with varying features.

Whether you need heat lamps that are mounted to the ceiling, mounted to tables, or that just sit on countertops, at Burkett we have a great selection of heat lamps that can not only add heat for your meals, but also, they add to your service space decoration.

Strip Heaters

Ideal for back-of-house or front-of-house use, strip warmers keep hot foods at their proper heated temperatures before or during food service. Strip heaters can come in either single stripor double strip designs. Naturally a double strip heater will provide you with higher surface area for heating. They are commonly found at server stations where completed meals are put up in the service window. There, strip heaters keep meals at proper temperatures until they are trayed up or taken to guests tables.

In buffet-style serving stations, strip food warmers are used to preserve food at a safe temperature between the time it is prepared and the time it is consumed. Strip food heaters help chefs maintain the proper texture and flavor throughout a serving session while also keeping food safe and at a desired temperature. Our strip heaters, often referred to as overhead food warmers, are available in a range of sizes and strengths. Pairing bar heaters and drop-in warming shelves can really make your buffets successful.

Our selection of carving station heat lamps will not only put the spotlight on your juicy cuts of meat, but also keep that freshly cut beef nice and hot for customers to enjoy.

No matter which type of heat lamp or strip heater you need, we offer the right heated lighting to keep your chefs and customers happy.

Frequently Asked Questions about Heat Lamps and Strip Heaters

What is a heat lamp?

A heat lamp is very similar to a normal lamp, but instead of just giving off light, the lamp also gives off heat. The heat lamp is used primarily for heat but can also be used for their lighting properties. A heat lamp produces a high temperature which transfers energy and heat to products with lower temperatures through electromagnetic radiation. Heat lights are typically mounted from the ceiling or on buffet lines.

How does a strip heater work?

Strip heaters have the same goals as heat lamps, in which they are meant to keep foods at the ideal temperatures for serving. The difference in the two heaters is in the physical design. Strip heaters are as the name suggests, long, horizontal heat producing lights. Using infrared or radiant heat, strip heaters can be easily mounted overhead of buffets or serving stations.

How hot do strip warmers and heat lamps get?

Strip warmers and heat lamps are designed to use either infrared or radiant heat to keep hot foods above the minimum required temperature of 140 degrees Fahrenheit. Temperatures will vary based on models, but generally heat lamp infrared bulbs are capable of reaching max temperatures of nearly 600 degrees Fahrenheit. Thus, it is important to be careful when handling units.

What size strip heater or heat lamp do you need?

Sizing for strip heaters and heat lamps is based upon how much space you have in your establishment. We have a very big selection of sizes and styles to match your kitchen setup. Countertop heat lamps offer you the most bulbs in one unit with quantities as high as 8 bulbs! Meanwhile strip warmers are available in either single or double bulb units.

Are light bulbs included?

Yes. These units come with bulbs unless specified otherwise in the individual product descriptions.

Do you need to hardwire strip bar heaters?

Most strip heaters require simple electrical connections and can be used with a standard cord and plug. Check spec sheets before ordering to determining if hard wiring is required.
